What I specialise in:
As a mental health counsellor (Master of Counselling, Monash University), and qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher (University of Massachusetts Medical School), I specialise in mindfulness-based existential psychotherapy to address issues that arise from the stressors of modern life and work. These include issues like burnout, chronic stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction and relational difficulties, and also existential concerns regarding purpose, meaning, death, isolation, and personal growth.
Who I work with:
My previous experience working in international corporations (Oil & Gas, Media, and Education) and the public service have made me particularly attuned to the stressors faced by busy professionals in highly competitive environments, and the struggles with stress, relationships, and meaning at work.
I am also aware of how these stressors are frequently brought home to family and relationships, and often work with couples and family sub-systems (parents and teens) impacted by the busyness of work or school.
WHAt TO EXPECT
In session, I strongly emphasise the importance of reflection, dialogue and inquiry as a primary driver of insight and change. This, coupled with regular feedback, allows me to adapt our sessions to meet you where you are, and to track our outcomes as we work towards your goals.
As sessions continue, we will also focus on cultivating skills and insights that can be applied across a range of issues, not just the ones you bring to session. This will support you in becoming your own therapist, and serve as a foundation for future independent exploration, healing and insight.
mY PROMISE
Unconditional Support: I am not here to diagnose, judge, or analyse you, but to work with you towards your desired outcomes. I understand that life can be indescribably difficult, and we are all climbing our own mountains. I will always be in your corner, and believe that our journeys are better undertaken together, with an open and supportive alliance.
Collaboration and Choice: You are in the driver’s seat, and I will check-in frequently to see how we are doing. I will provide a variety of evidence-based options, approaches and practices that you may choose from, so you can go as fast or as slow as you need to.
Authentic Connection: My practice thrives on cultivating an open, authentic space between us, and an environment where all parties feel connected enough to speak freely. It is my job to create a space where we can communicate comfortably about how therapy is progressing, and refine our process together.
