What I specialise in:
My background in counselling and psychology has allowed me to specialise in addressing parent-child relationships, exam stress management, and transition and adjustment challenges in third-culture individuals, expats and adolescence. I also work frequently with stress, anxiety and depression for professionals and students.
Who I work with:
Growing up as a third-culture child, I am familiar with the emotional and relational struggles one encounters when moving to a new environment, and the challenges faced by families and individuals settling into a foreign country. I work frequently in supporting pre-teens to transit smoothly into adolescence, a developmental phase that can be most turbulent for both parent and child.
In today’s volatile environment, I also see students (aged 9 and above) who might struggle with stress or developing social bonds and communications skills at home or in the classroom, and work frequently to help parents who face difficulties connecting with their children due to generational or cultural divides, developmental changes, new environments, and individual differences.
As a busy professional myself, I recognise that meeting deadlines and fulfilling expectations, while not neglecting our personal needs, is a huge challenge in today’s workplace. I’m committed to supporting individuals who are battling anxiety, depression and relationship issues, and assisting them in finding strength and balance.
WHAt TO EXPECT
In therapy, I value building an honest and authentic connection with you. It lays a firm foundation for healing, and in the meeting of your treatment goals. I emphasise being non-directive and non-judgemental to establish an optimal environment for emotional freedom, creativity and comfort, and value feedback to adjust to your needs.
I often employ Person Centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as the foundation of my approach, and integrate mindfulness techniques into working with intense emotions and uncovering core beliefs. I also supplement my approach with techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic, Narrative Therapy and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy.
MY PROMISE
Unconditional Positive Regard: I am here to accept you for who you are and to understand you objectively without judgement.
Radical Honesty: As we journey together through your challenges, I will speak truthfully about the work we have to do. I will always hold your best interests at heart and build an open and authentic space where we can have vulnerable and honest conversations.
Professionalism: I have an enduring interest in research and continuing education in the field of counselling and psychology, and am constantly learning and improving to serve you better. This includes being open to feedback, so as to adapt the latest research to suit your needs.
