The Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Program
Founded by Dr. Jon Kabat- Zinn in 1979, the 8 week MBSR program has been the subject of rigorous research. Regarded as the gold standard of mindfulness programs, the course has a large and growing body of scientific evidence that supports it as an affordable and effective complement to reducing stress, and for a wide variety of medical and psychological conditions.
What is MBSR?
Founded by Dr. Jon Kabat- Zinn in 1979, the 8-week MBSR program has been the subject of rigorous research. Regarded as the gold standard of mindfulness programs, the course has a large and growing body of scientific evidence that supports it as an affordable and effective complement to reducing stress, and for a wide variety of medical and psychological conditions.
What to expect?
The MBSR program is a deeply experiential course. Participants meet over the period of 8 weeks for the study, practice and integration of Mindfulness as is applied to their everyday lives. Helmed by experienced mindfulness teachers who guide practice, lead inquiry and embody core Mindfulness teachings, participants are guided towards accessing their innate strengths, and to draw from the wisdom of the group to live their best lives, moment to moment, with each breath.
The MBSR program consists of:
A pre-course orientation (see Orientation below)
Eight weekly classes, 2 1/2 hours each (31 hours direct instruction)
A Day Of Mindfulness: One All-Day class on a Saturday or Sunday, between classes 6 and 7
Daily home practice assignments for 45-60 minutes each day
Orientation
A pre-course orientation will be held a week or two before the course commences. This will be a casual session to give participants a short experience of mindfulness practice and to familiarize participants with the structure of the course. One-on-one time with the facilitating teachers is also provided to answer any questions you might have moving forward. Administrative issues like attire, dates and lesson times will also be discussed.
Post-program Support
The MBSR program provides a firm foundation in mindfulness practice. Most participants having experienced the benefits, choose to continue with a personal mindfulness practice after the course. The Mind Collected provides continued support for those looking for a space and community for practice. Past participants have an open invitation to all subsequent Days of Mindfulness as well as access to regular mindfulness classes and events.
Evidence-based Benefits of Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction
The number of research studies on the efficacy and benefits of mindfulness practice have grown exponentially over the last 30 years. MBSR has been shown to benefit conditions such as stress, stress-related illness, sleep, chronic pain, and anxiety disorders. Continued research on the efficacy of MBSR and related mindfulness-based interventions can be found here.

Facilitating Teachers
Jonathan Lim
Counsellor. Mindfulness Teacher. Psychotherapist
Jon is a qualified mindfulness teacher, emotional skills facilitator, and psychotherapist at The Mind Collected. With over a decade of teaching and facilitation experience, his workshops draw from his background in evidenced-based psychotherapy, early Greek and Eastern philosophy, and contemplative practice. Deeply experiential, with a focus on practice, dialogue, and inquiry, participants are guided to draw from their inner wisdom, and to apply their learning to their everyday lives.
As part of his journey as a mindfulness teacher, Jon is grateful to have been guided by Mindfulness pioneers such as Dr Bob Stahl, Dr. Bhikkhu Analayo, and Florence Meleo-Meyer. Having lived, studied and worked around the world, he has conducted workshops and courses for local and international organisations like Google, the Woodlands Health Campus, the Institute of Adult Learning and the New Life Foundation. Outside of work, he is usually found on silent retreat, or on his mat deepening his practice in Mindfulness, Yoga and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Testimonials
“The fine tea session hosted at the Sitting Room was a totally out of this world experience. Immersed in stillness and the fragrance of freshly brewed tea, with the occasional chirping of birds and the graceful tea brewing of our host, Kenny, was such a tranquil process…I felt at peace and refreshed after the session.”
— Chia Yi Min
“Both Jon and Parveen exude the art of mindfulness as they teach. It showed the amount of knowledge on the subject and how they tailored it for their audience.
— G.C, IAL
“Jon’s embodied approach to mindfulness and his calm and patient disposition helps to bring a different type of energy into the room. An empathetic and knowledgeable trainer, he facilitated the session well, and has in-depth knowledge of the contents.
